Hello, everyone. You may want to grab a pencil and a calendar because we have a lot of news to share.
First, we need to "toot" our horns for we have very exciting news. Your favorite Purple Building just WON the Farmington Hills and Farmington Chamber of Commerce "Role Model Award"! We were nominated for this annual award by the previous Mayor of Farmington. The banquet is next Monday, (with or without those Hollywood writers). We are honored to receive this recognition for the" individual or company that best promotes the Chamber's message... and promotes the Chamber in the larger community".
While we are bragging, don't forget that we were recently nominated in Strut Magazine for TWO categories: "Best Gift Shop" and "Best Girls' Night Out- Hobbies". We would love your vote in both categories. Simply go to www.strutmag.com and cast your vote for Eclectic Elegance under the two categories. It is a very simple process and one you don't have to register for or give out any "personal" information. Beyond (Salon), Gala (Girls Night Out- Nightlife), and Village Shoe Inn (Shoe Store- Independent) are other Farmington businesses nominated. Dana's cousins own England Real Estate which has been nominated in the Real Estate Company category if you would like to support part of the Eclectic Elegance family. You may vote once and the contest ends January 31, 2008. "Winners" will be announced in April. Thank you so much for the support you continue to give the Purple Building. As you can see by the pictures, Eclectic Elegance is ready for the upcoming holidays. We have a large selection of Valentine home goods, chocolates, and other sweet treats. Who is your Valentine? Our baskets make great gifts whether cupid's arrow is aimed at your spouse, significant other, or your children. The little UglyDoll, "OX", is a perfect way to give hugs and kisses to the love in your life. Our new line of body lotions and bath delights is now in and just in time for February 14th. The "Truffles" line smells like your favorite flavor of chocolate. The lotions are soothing, the candles aromatic, and the bath powder sensuous. Take away those January blues and think Red and Pink (and chocolate).
Easter Sunday is March 23rd! It is quickly hopping toward us. Look at all of the adorable bunnies, candles, and chicks we now have. It is never too early to think SPRING! We love to create Easter baskets for any age and don't forget your hostess for Easter brunch or dinner. We have lovely hostess gifts all year round.
As promised, we have the latest details on Downtown Farmington's February event "My Heart's In Downtown Farmington".
The American Heart Association has designated February as "Heart Disease Awareness Month. In order to do our part, on Friday, February 15th and Saturday, February 16th, participating Downtown Farmington merchants will donate 5% of your sale to Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. Simply mention the American Heart Association to the participating merchant and 5% of your sale will go toward Botsford Hospital's Cardiac Unit. What a great way to help a local charity.
Beginning February 14th and running through February 29th (yep, it's Leap Year), when you spend $25.00 at a participating Downtown merchant, you will receive an entry form for a Downtown Farmington Prize Package. The more you buy, the more chances you have at winning a prize package filled with gift certificates to Downtown Farmington businesses. Actually, there will be three prize packages, so you will have THREE chances to win! Winners will be announced on February 29th at Gala, An American Bistro, at 6:30 p.m. Gala is located at 33316 Grand River Avenue and you can visit Gala on the web at www.galafarmington.com . Currently, the Grand Prize Package is worth $500.00 in gift certificates to Downtown Farmington merchants! Wow! Shop til your HEART'S content!
The Farmington Library will be holding activities for youngsters Saturdays in February. February 9th, children can stop by the Library and make a Valentine. On the 16th, the Sunflour Bakehaus will host the Library's activity and kids will make heart crafts and listen to stories. Lastly, on Saturday, February 23rd, the Library will be the place for the youngsters to make poetry pockets. "My Heart's In Downtown Farmington" will be fun for the whole family. Come tailgate with Eclectic Elegance on "Super Bowl Sunday", February 3rd. We will be OPEN on SUNDAY, February 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and we will have food, beverages, and SUPER in-store specials. We are so excited about this event because we are coordinating it with our pals at Scrappin' and Stampin' (also open that Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). Hotdogs and chips will be PASSed out at Scrappin' and Stampin' and Eclectic Elegance will TACKLE the desserts and coffee. We love football so much that Eclectic Elegance is going to start the party TODAY, Tuesday, January 22nd. With a minimum purchase of $2.00, you will SCORE an entry in our Pigskin contest. The winner will win a gift basket complete with an Eclectic Elegance gift certificate. During our Tailgate Party, snack foods (gourmet pretzels, chips, salsas, mustards, and nuts), Ground Gourmet Flavored Coffee- 1 pound bag, and Valentine items will be 30% off! The game starts at 6:00 p.m. so you will have plenty of time to visit us in Farmington before your Super Bowl party begins. Currently, we have two ClubHouse Classes scheduled. On Saturday, March 15th, local artist Kathleen Spellman will teach a watercolor class. On Thursday, April 24th, Liberty Street Gardens will be here to help us create a beautiful spring outdoor container filled with delightful daffodils and tremendous tulips. We will have more details on these two classes in the upcoming weeks.
